[collectd] non-C-based plugins

Hi everyone,
 I was wondering if there's any plans to make it possible to have
non-C-based plugins. It seems like collectd is a fantastic tool for
sysadmins. A much better and more advanced statistics-tracking tool than
sar w/o a doubt. However, it would be handy for writing my own plugins
if I didn't need to work in C. I've looked through the archives but I
couldn't find anything about this in there.

Any thoughts?
