currently, the answer is "no". We could make the exponent configureable
quite easily, but I'm not sure how useful this would be for the use-case
you describe.

I think ideally "collectdctl" would allow you tell the daemon "try
reading <this|all> callback now", similar to the way that you can tell
MTAs to try to deliver a message right now.

Can you open a feature request issue at https://collectd.org/bugs/ for
this?
