[collectd] SNMP Exponential Backoff

I notice that when collectd cannot successfully poll a device it will invoke a exponential backoff. Example seen in the log:[notice] read-function of plugin `example' failed. Will suspend it for 600.000 seconds.
Is there any way to turn this off globally or per device? If we have a long maintenance it can be a long time before it starts collecting data. I know we can just restart collectd, but this may be overlooked.
Thanks,Matt
