[collectd] Planning for version 4.7

Hi everybody,

this mail contains a timeline for the 4.7 release, most notably a
feature freeze as of May 1st. Please submit patches for new features
before 2009-05-01!

So far, I've packed a new release whenever I came around to do so, which
usually was a few weeks after I felt like it'd be a good time to do so.
I usually talked to Sebastian before so he could commit whatever is on
his todo list and then put it off another week or two and in the end I
noticed that there were new features in that release that I had taken
for granted already. My goal is to get to a more transparent and
organized release procedure.

The first step is to announce a clear timeline, so I don't put this off
again:

 - 2009-05-01
   I'll create the “collectd-4.7” branch off of the “master” branch.
   From this time on, only bugfixes will be applied to the
   “collectd-4.7” branch – new features received after this date will
   to into the “master” branch and will not be included in the 4.7
   release.

 - 2009-05-11
   This is the planned release date.

I tried to maintain a list of new and upcoming features on the “Roadmap”
wiki page [0], so if you're interested in what the new version will
bring or even want to help out by testing new stuff, this'll get you
started :)
