Hi Oliver, hi Eric,

after getting my hands on a Sparc machine myself, I fixed the _sending_
part of the network plugin to use `memcpy' to get around alignment
issues. I didn't have time to take care of the receiving part yet, but
I'll do that before releasing 4.2.5.

While I was at it I found that there was an endian-issue when sending
gauge values, such as the battery voltage or the system load.

The changes have been merged into the following branches of the Git
repository:
  collectd-4.2
  collectd-4.3
  master
I'd appreciate it if you could give them a try. Especially the changes
to the configure script are, uhm, interesting, due to m4.. :/

Regards,
-octo

P. S.: If you don't want to get involved with Git you can simply
download a daily snapshot from Sebastian's site,
       <http://snapshots.tokkee.org/collectd/>. I've just pushed the
changes, so you should probably wait for 2008-02-29 version.
