You can find example C and Perl plugins in contrib/examples/ in the source
distribution. Is that what you're looking for?
The subject of your email suggests that you're talking about the perl plugin.
Please be aware that the current version of the plugin still suffers support
for multithreading and thus should be used with a single reading thread only
(see collectd-perl(5) in collectd 4.2 or later).

As noted on the website (and probably some READMEs), collection.cgi is just an
example and works-for-me script. Neither Florian nor I are a lot into web
scripting, so we're waiting for someone else to step up to provide a more
sophisticated solution. Of course we would be happy to help out but we're
probably not going to be the ones who do (most of) the development.

Sure. If you come up with any ideas please feel free to publish them on the
mailing list. I'm pretty sure there are other interested people as well and
there might just be one or another who is willing to join. If this is going
to get somewhat bigger, I'm pretty sure we can provide infrastructure if
needed (e.g. a wiki to collect ideas).
Cheers,
Sebastian
