that's, of course, my fault: The default behavior of the autoconf macro
`AC_CHECK_LIB' is to link against the library if it is found. I did not
provide a alternative, so that's what autoconf did..

IPv6 support was on my mind for some time. The ping plugin uses the
library `libping' for pinging hosts, so I'll have to look into that to
ping IPv6 adresses. I wanted to do this (look into libping) before, to
add multi-host support.. So, I can't promise to be successfull, but I'll
try :)
