[collectd] only 1 year of data is kept??

According to this manual page:
http://collectd.org/documentation/manpages/collectd.conf.5.shtml#plugin_rrdtool
the answer is "by default, yes".

RRATimespan config directive (if used multiple times) should probably give
you desired results.
