[collectd] reading kernel counters?

Thanks. That's an obvious one :^).

A colleague pointed me to this right after I sent my question but it crashes
for us on CentOS 5.5.

We might debug this but in general I'm a bit surprised there isn't a module
to just read a single number from just any file, is there?
