[collectd] Several rrd files have stopped updating

We have a distributed rrd setup that reports back to a set of central
"collectors".

On one of those collectors 175 of the 39K rrd files stopped updating
early yesterday morning.

The rrd files that stopped updating appear to be of the following times:
disk_time.rrd (disk plugin)
various dns_*rrd (DNS plugin)
ipvs*rrd (IPVS plugin)

There is a lot involved in this setup, so I'm looking for
troubleshooting suggestions more than anything else.

FWIW ... Everything is running collectd 4.7.3
