The former are all "counter" values (transferred as (unsigned) integer.)
while the latter are all "gauge" values (transferred as doubles).

Do you, by any chance, still have the "config.log" file available? This
file is created by the "configure" script and should be in the "top
build directory", usually that's the root directory of the collectd

Could you capture a couple of packets for me? I think around ten packets
should be sufficient, but it'd be great if only packets sent by a
Solaris machine were included.
