[collectd] Hello CollectD List! Collect Strings via SNMP

Hello CollectD List!

We are trying to collect, via SNMP. Strings (ex. ifName, ifDescr, etc.) in
conjunction with integer (ex. ifAdminStatus, ifOperStatus, etc.) will need
to be collected from an SNMP Table on several thousand devices. There are
other various proprietary MIB tables which need to be collected, they also
have string values.

The data will not be graphed, but the information needs to be gathered, on
regularly scheduled intervals (5 minutes), for a relatively short period of
time (2 hours.) Can the data be stored in RDD or CSV?

Any hints with collecting strings, such as ifName and ifDescr, as an
example?
