this is probably not related to the `perl' plugin at all, but to the
`dns' plugin. By default it tries to open the `any' interface, which
causes a crash on some systems, most notably *BSD based systems.

Please try disabling the `dns' plugin or specify an interface, I expect
this to prevent the crash.

I've fixed the debug message to include the plugin name, so that it can
more easily be interpreted.
