I've just uploaded collectd 4.7.2-1 to unstable which includes Luke's
patches. Could you please give that a try and see if that provides any
more useful error messages? Due to the socket timeout that has been
introduced, collectd should no longer hang in the "powerdns" plugin, but
I do not expect it to collect any values either as I suspect that the
protocol has been changed in pdns 2.9.22.
